W6AB Satellite ARC Sponsored HamFest

Hamfesting follows ham radio and I'm getting ready to attend our locally sponsored meet up later this morning. I'll have my android driven mobile device with its TweetDeck application for pumping updates into  #hamr social network. Also, photographs to be attached for analysis as we continue searching for Lost Island DX Society terrestrial coordinates.

MileStone | 7th Call Area QSO Party Results

Good morning from the shackadelic #hamr zone with my first cup of DxCoffee in hand while recommending TX7M and EJ0PL hot videos at DX World where I get news and information.

Wanted to check-in with the tribe with good news. I placed first in the 7th Call Area QSO Party in the Non-7 Single Operator, High Power, CW only category. Remember practice, practice, and practice again because each RadioSport event builds on the other as one gains experience, skill, knowledge, and confidence.

A Box score is not instantaneous. It is not magical. One continues to refine and persist with the ultimate goal in mind because everything begins somewhere and always leads somewhere.

Lastly, I want to comment on the TX7M and EJ0PL videos because there are those who are putting their hearts into their work and ham radio videos are quickly evolving. I'm impressed by the quality, content, and creativity of the current generation of ham radio videos. Your editing, graphics, choice of soundtracks, and documentary like presentations are a credit to our hobby and reflect true passion at living life to its fullest with Amateur Radio.

Contest on.

My #hamr Weekend Update

Summer months are made for antenna maintenance and preparing for Field Day. Also, discovering an archive of television shows that I do not have time for during the work week on NetFlix. Currently, I'm watching Battlestar Galactica beginning with series one, episode one after watch LOST series one, episode seven. Also, I watched John Carter, a Walt Disney film offering on high definition last night. I was entertained with Carters visually rich graphics, his falling in love with the Princess of Mars, and an interesting twist about the fate of Mars.

On the other hand, the central coast enjoyed a wonderful weather weekend especially in the Five Cities. We soaked in sunny afternoons with clear blue skies while temperatures soared into the low 70s with heavy summer winds. Our afternoon conditions were perfect enough to begin maintenance on the KLM KT34. I scrubbed aluminum with 00 steel wool then sprayed hardware with WD40 prior to removal. My plan is to begin breaking down elements for further maintenance and remove significant corrosion at element to boom attach points.

Additionally, the Beach Boys ARC gathered at SL's antenna farm and continued our preparation for Field Day, in less than two weeks. The Cushcraft 4 element tri-bander and Butternut HF9V are positioned. Likewise, we re-drafted our plans to include stubs, reducing boom length for greater beam width on 6m, and networking our computers. I'm learning a lot from the old timers who have depth and technical experience.

Well, dinner time is fast approaching and I have an episode or two of Battlestar Galactica to finish, in fact, the remake series is visually stunning on high definition including great character performance.
